Oogaly boogaly boo!

Now on to a rant about privacy and Facebook

Yesterday Facebook.com released a new feature which they call news feed. Basically its an embedded rss reader that tells you what has changed on your friends profile. Also they added a small one to each persons profile. Now we can look at this with two different views.

This is an invasion of privacy. Which I can see, and the view is all well and good, except for the fact that you put your information on the site for others to see. The people looking at the news feed can see what the news feed it telling them by going to your profile.

This is a tool that can be used to make stalking easier. The only thing I can say to that is YES!, and what is your point. Could that stalker not just go to your profile and get the same information? The answer YES!

If you use Facebook as so many do, you notice that there are people with thousands of friends. Those are the people saying statement 1. This could easily be solved by those people only having friends they are…..FRIENDS WITH!!!! Facebook could dumb there site down to deal with these assholes by making a tiered list of friends. Like “Best Friend”, “Good Friend”, “Acquaintance”, or Facebook could make the news feed an optional tool. But fuck that. Then your so called private info wouldn’t show up to acquaintance. Then there are people that are bitching about the stalking. Lets first look at the word stalker, or in this case stalking (Stalking is a legal term for repeated harassment or other forms of invasion of a person’s privacy in a manner that causes fear to its target. ) So statement 2 is stating the something as statement 1. So as I see it, three things can happen,

1. People can cut down the number of friends they have, to only FRIENDS!!!

2. Facebook can change there site to accommodate assholes like these

3. There assholes can take there shit somewhere else

My vote goes for 3.

Got to work this morning, felt the thirst coming on strong, so I headed to the soda machine. There I inserted $1.25 and hit the Mountain Dew Code Red button. To my surprise Grapico came out. Can this be a good sign or a bad one, only time will tell.

A picture of a wifi network, what a great idea. It would be cool if this could be converted into a screen saver.

Would you like to become a Digg power user. Here is the guide for you. If you want to add me as a friend my Friend ID is “Greenfday6″

This is a nice tutorial for doing some craziness in photoshop. I wish I could use photoshop better, but I guess thats why I have friends who are good with it.

A list a great wordpress plugins is always nice to have. This list seems to be all there, with some great stuff I will have to implement once I get some time.

This new Web2.0 app looks like it might be great. If I could only get a Calendar that was easy to use and had rss that updated everyday. Thats what I need. I check rss more than I check email, and if bills are due….boom rss tells me…what a way to organize.

If you are still using Internet Explorer then click Here and see why you should change to Firefox.

And a last little post about porn browsing on the net….check this out.

I hope you enjoy, and remember tomorrow is Friday…the weekend starts and this weekend you even get an extra day….w00t!

OK here is the deal, i was just on eBay looking around, and I found this dude selling a lot of the same type of items. So I thought “self wouldn’t it be nice if eBay had a buddies list, then I could add them as a buddy” You know something like that. I know buddies sounds a little dumb for shopping, but dam what a nice feature. So I got to looking around some more and wouldn’t you know I found an option like that. Wow I thought, this is great, now I will just add this dude to my rss feeds and Bam!! I will know when he is selling something new. Look down at the bottom of Firefox and what do I see……NOTHING….this mean there is not an rss feed. I thought to my self, from a company that just spent millions to by Skype they don’t have rss. What the Hell. So then it struck me, digg.com has rss for search result as well as friends, does eBay. The answer is NO A google search pulls up some interesting 3rd party programs that will do this. But come on eBay, move into the Web 2.0 era <–I guess thats what people are calling it.

p.s. Google it would be nice for some rss from you too.
