This is a post in response to a friend of mine and a post he made at his site. Gomez I spent a few hours last night reporting post about the HD-DVD keys as spam. The reason I did this is not because I though that the keys where wrong to post, but because I didn’t want to see Digg be taken over by ass holes thinking that anything is covered by free speech, and fall under the 1st Amendment. The 1st Amendment states

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

This would include me saying there is no God, or saying the the Pope is gay, or that President Bush should be impeached (maybe I shouldn’t have said that at work). This doesn’t include copyrighted material. Yes the copyright system is fucked up, I understand that. But this still doesn’t give anyone the “right” to post copyrighted material. Digg did what it thought was best for the company. A cease and desist letter means absolutly nothing. All it says is that if you don’t quite doing what ever we tell you then we “may” get legal on your ass. So when Digg received this letter they said “Ok for the good of the company we may want to take this information down”. This wasn’t “censorship” as some put it. This was information that some party (HD-DVD) beleived was copyrighted and told another company (Digg) to remove or possibly face leagal actions. But because some people thought of this as “censorship” Digg had to turn the other cheek and once again say “Whats best for the company?” This time it was letting ass holes post the keys, and taking the fallout if there is any from HD-DVD. Because again cease and desist doesn’t really mean a damn thing.

I can’t Digg at work.

I have been off work for about a week. Today while I was checking my email, there was something from out network admins. Saying that they have noticed people uploading file to public websites. They listed things like FTP, Email, and Digg. Yes digg. Now when I go to Digg, I get a notice saying that the site is a “Malicious Web Site”. The government has blocked me from the news. I can’t believe it.

Lycos Deleted My Email Also!

So I heard about the shit with Lycos deleting email if an account hasn’t been login into in 30 days, and I decided to login to my account which I have had since about 1998. I wasn’t surprised to see my email had been deleted. But it did surprise me that the $19.95 charge was accurate. Here is a copy of the email I received.

Best of the Interweb 8-31-06

Got to work this morning, felt the thirst coming on strong, so I headed to the soda machine. There I inserted $1.25 and hit the Mountain Dew Code Red button. To my surprise Grapico came out. Can this be a good sign or a bad one, only time will tell.

A picture of a wifi network, what a great idea. It would be cool if this could be converted into a screen saver.

This is a nice tutorial for doing some craziness in photoshop. I wish I could use photoshop better, but I guess thats why I have friends who are good with it.
A list a great wordpress plugins is always nice to have. This list seems to be all there, with some great stuff I will have to implement once I get some time.
This new Web2.0 app looks like it might be great. If I could only get a Calendar that was easy to use and had rss that updated everyday. Thats what I need. I check rss more than I check email, and if bills are due….boom rss tells me…what a way to organize.

Today instead of a list, and lack of any good news, I am just going to throw some stuff out there. This is a great firefox extension, it make your search thingey bigger as you type. Totally awesome. Anyway, Google updated Google Video to make it feel more like YouTube…who the fuck cares, YouTube is better…The shuttle went off…yay! the really excitement happens when it comes back to earth….Apple gets rid of their last CRT monitor computer…and who the fuck cares. Although this looks pretty cool. Ok Digg just sucks now, because I use Thunderbird as my rss reader, I can’t look at any of the news stories out of any section of Digg except Technology, because I have to log in….hope you 4th was better than mine.

Been a While!!!

So yea its been a while, but you know what, sometimes it just takes time. It takes time to get over some things and move on…..I really don’t know where that came from, but I’m sure it applies to a few different things in life. Anyway in my last update I was bitching about rss and ebay, well guess what?? Yep, you guessed right. Ebay reads my blog, they actually came here and saw my rant and said “hey what a good idea, maybe we should do that.” Then a few days later after they thrown millions at the problem they came up with a solution, they added rss to “some parts” of ebay. OMFG what the hell, did you not read my post. I want rss all over Ebay. Ok here you go Ebay, if you can buy skype for what like 3 billion dollars, why the fuck can’t we have rss all over. I mean Digg does it. Why the fuck can’t you……………………..Ok on a side note, looks like my job is going down the swirling drain we call a shitter. Its really fucked up when you work for a company for 3 yrs then they just throw you to the side when a new account comes on. So the fuck what if my schedule doesn’t work with you anymore. I have been here for 3 fucking years and this is what I get. At least at Wal-Mart you get %10 discount on everything while you work there. Fucking shit man I never got a dam thing from this job, except more fucking work. So you know what I say….”Fuck You, in the big shinny ass with a huge banana covered in shit.” Ok so maybe that was a little to much, but really I have been here for 3 years, I think that long enough. I mean I am a supervisor (not that that means anything here) but in the real world it mean a lot. Maybe its time to move on, maybe its time to change, maybe something better will come from this. Then again does something better ever come from change? I guess after time change is good but after time change changes to normal. So change is never good till it changes to normal. Wow that make sense……….hope your head didn’t explode….and listen if you going to get head while driving, make sure you keep two hands on the steering wheel.
