Subsidized Netbooks from Cell Companies are Crap
by Nathan on Mar.18, 2009
In the last year these little computers have become a big hit. The past couple of weeks I have had three friends get a new Netbooks. Personally I carry my laptop around with me, so having a netbook just doesn’t suit me. For them however it was a perfect solution. Portable, cheap, and they run Linux. What more could you want.
How about not to be screwed over by cell companies selling Netbooks at a “subsidized” price with a two year contract. The computer industry moves too fast for this to be a sensible option for the customer. Yet AT&T, Verizon and others are doing this. These computers are Netbooks, which means they are cheap, and underpowered. How does anyone expect these computers to be usable in two years?
I would personally not even think about getting a subsidized Netbook from a cell company. They are going to lock you into a two year contract, paying $60/month, and in a year you’ll have a messed up slow computer.
Thanks Jerks!
A maze of Corn
by Nathan on Oct.08, 2006
So last night Kim and I wend to the Corn Maze. When we first pulled up, there was a line of cars about 15 long. I was under the impression, this place didn’t get that busy. But I guess I was wrong. So as we pull up the guy asks for $2. Apparently it costs $2 to park in one part of the corn field, and $10 to get lost in another. The whole parking situation pissed me off. First we had to pay then I had to drive my card into a field, and my car isn’t the best for driving into fields. Anyway, Kim had gotten free tickets, so all my bitching was really for nothing, since the only thing we had to pay was for parking. We headed to the maze, which we of course got lost in. I swear we went back to the beginning five times. Met lots of people who kept asking us if this is the right way. I let them know that I was lost, and didn’t think it was a good idea to follow me. But then we figured out that the maze was broken up into parts. The beginning was the most confusing part, and it got easier after that. I would have to say it took about an hour to get out of the corn. All in all I had a good time, and would do it again….if all I had to pay was $2.
I give it 3 stars out of 5
Facebook — Privacy Issue or Fun Stalking Tool
by Nathan on Sep.06, 2006
Oogaly boogaly boo!
Now on to a rant about privacy and Facebook
Yesterday Facebook.com released a new feature which they call news feed. Basically its an embedded rss reader that tells you what has changed on your friends profile. Also they added a small one to each persons profile. Now we can look at this with two different views.
- This is an invasion of privacy. Which I can see, and the view is all well and good, except for the fact that you put your information on the site for others to see. The people looking at the news feed can see what the news feed it telling them by going to your profile.
- This is a tool that can be used to make stalking easier. The only thing I can say to that is YES!, and what is your point. Could that stalker not just go to your profile and get the same information? The answer YES!
If you use Facebook as so many do, you notice that there are people with thousands of friends. Those are the people saying statement 1. This could easily be solved by those people only having friends they are…..FRIENDS WITH!!!! Facebook could dumb there site down to deal with these assholes by making a tiered list of friends. Like “Best Friend”, “Good Friend”, “Acquaintance”, or Facebook could make the news feed an optional tool. But fuck that. Then your so called private info wouldn’t show up to acquaintance. Then there are people that are bitching about the stalking. Lets first look at the word stalker, or in this case stalking (Stalking is a legal term for repeated harassment or other forms of invasion of a person’s privacy in a manner that causes fear to its target. ) So statement 2 is stating the something as statement 1. So as I see it, three things can happen,
- 1. People can cut down the number of friends they have, to only FRIENDS!!!
- 2. Facebook can change there site to accommodate assholes like these
- 3. There assholes can take there shit somewhere else
My vote goes for 3.
No Gas, Child Predators, Time Waster, and Girls
by Nathan on May.16, 2006
I received an email today that I thought I would share with everyone.
“It has been calculated that if everyone in the United States Did not purchase a drop of gasoline for one day and all at the same time, the oil companies would choke on their stockpiles. At the same time it world hit the entire industry with a net loss of over 4.6 billion dollars which affect the bottom lines of the oil companies. Therefore May 19th has been formally declared “Stick It To Them” day and the people of this nation should not buy a single drop of gasoline that day.”
This is all great and good, I’m all for sticking it to the man, but come on really, all this means is that we will all get enough gas on the 18th to make it through the 19th. So let me ask, what does this accomplish? This will only hurt gas stations. So please if you decide not to get gas on the 19th at least stop and get a soda.
Am I the only one who thinks these shows like Dateline, 20/20, and others are having too much fun busting these child predators. I mean really do we need to see a naked guy thinking he is going to get some for a 14 year old girl. I say take the money you are using to produce the show, and give it to the police to help find even more child predators.
Todays Time waster is an olde but a goode. It grabs pictures for flickr and you have to guess what tag all the photos have in common. Find it here.
Guys why do we do the things we do for women? Why do we always play their game? Why do we spend the cash? Why, Why, Why??? I’ll tell you, it’s because it doesn’t matter how much you say you hate it, deep down inside you like playing the game, cause with every game you can’t wait for the out come.
Fucking Bitches
by Nathan on Apr.18, 2006
So I just walked into the UC, and sitting there was one of my Ex’s sorority sisters, who she is good friends with. Right away when I walk in, this girl looks to the guy sitting next to her and starts whispering stuff. The guy is an ATO, which is the same fraternity that my ex’s new boyfriend is in. Anyway I know this girl is talking about me. I ignore it and get a newspaper. Then walk over to her and say hi, we were friends and i was trying to be nice. Well she just totally ignores me. So I walk away. I don’t understand why these girls have to be this way. I didn’t do jack shit to her, or Lauren, there is no reason for anyone to be acting this way toward me. I really don’t care if they want to be bitches, its cool, but don’t be whispering shit right in front of me when you see me. If you have a problem you need to come out with it. That’s what I do. If I have a problem with someone, I tell them, it may make me see like an ass, but at least the people know how I feel.
