There Will Be Blood & Milk Shakes
by Nathan on Mar.31, 2008, under Uncategorized
If you havn’t seen the SNL skit “I Drink Your Milkshake” and haven’t seen There Will Be Blood this post might seem crazy.
According to cinematographer Robert Elswit, the oil used on screen in There Will Be Blood was actually created using the same industrial material used by McDonald’s to thicken their milkshakes. Kind of ironic?
Gmail Tags

I recently started using my Gmail account for lots of things, and I have began to notice that quickly finding things has become harder and harder. Why hasn’t Google implemented some kind of mail tagging system. I know we have labels but I can’t easily create labels on the fly. Gmail needs a tagging system kind of like del.icio.us
Lifestreaming
by Nathan on Mar.19, 2008, under Uncategorized
Recently I came across the idea of lifestreaming. Not like Justin.tv or anything, but more of a portal where all your online activities come together. Things like Last.fm, Del.icio.us, my blog, and anything else I do that come with RSS feeds. I have seen a few site out there like FriendFeed that do this kind of aggregation but I just don’t like them.
I want something plain and simple that can be set as my Throw the Mind main page. This way my main page would have links and other info about me. I started creating a page like this, you can see it here if you like. The page isn’t finished yet, I would like better caching and an Ajax live updating feature, but its a start.
The Bank Job
by Nathan on Mar.19, 2008, under Uncategorized
I went to see The Bank Job the other night. Rather good movie, but its not really a heist movie. The movie is set in the 1970′s and is based on a true story. Its kind of cool seeing how england was back in the 70′s. Quite a bit different than the way movies portray the 70′s here in the U.S.
So i started this post about 2 weeks ago, but got busy doing other thing. I really can’t seem to remember what I was going to say about the movie. I thought it was pretty good, and wouldn’t mind watching it when it comes out on DVD.

ccTiddly, VPS, & Leap Year
by Nathan on Mar.06, 2008, under Uncategorized
I havn’t been posting much here because I have been playing with another site. Its a server based version of Tiddly Wiki called ccTiddly. Its kind of a neat little thing although it is done completely in javascript and HTML. I was thinking I might stop using wordpress and start using ccTiddly as a blog, but a Tiddly Wiki page isn’t really made for blogging, its more of a glorified notepad. So I may just leave it as that, I don’t know yet.
I have also removed some plugins hoping to speed up wordpress. Although I think I have have done some good, I’m also starting to question my server. Since upgrading to Debian Testing things have been…well a little unstable. I have been thinking about moving to a different VPS but its hard to beat the $10/month I pay now. I have asked a friend if he wants to split a $20/month VPS, but I don’t know if we are going to do that or not. Anyways point being things may be a bit rough around here toward the end of the month.
Also I hope everyone enjoyed their extra day this year, we have been saving up for 3 years to get it. If you didn’t do anything fun, you have a little less than 4 years to think about what you will do next time.
