Thinking About Going to London England
by Nathan on Mar.29, 2007, under Uncategorized
So I was thinking about going to England the other day, and thought I wonder how far it is from my house. So off to google maps I went. Searched from my zip to London, and this is what I got. Notice number 19, “Swim across the Atlantic Ocean.” Do they really think a fat guy like myself could actually swim across the Atlantic. Come on Google, you should know that.
OpenID

This weekend I spent a lot of time playing with OpenID. I tried to implement it on this blog, but I need to compile my own PHP and have GMP enabled. I tried to do this but it didn’t work out. Also the plugin I was using didn’t want to find my OpenID endpoint. But I hope with a little help I will be able to bring OpenID as another way to login.
This weekend I also had a long conversation with some people about OpenID and the way many sites are implementing it. The problem I have for example LiveJournal, is that I have no way to associate my OpenID with my already created account. I know LiveJournal gives you an openid, but I want to use my own. Thus meaning I have to create a new account. I hope in the long run this will be fixed my site like Digg who are going to implement this technology.
[Update]: Looks as though I have OpenID running. It is in dumb mode, I don’t know what that means, but it can be fixed with gmp. Everyone give it a try.
Man of the Year
by Nathan on Mar.26, 2007, under Uncategorized
Last night I watched Man of the Year. I have been waiting to see this movie for a long time, and I have to say the wait was worth it. This movie was great. It had a cast, good political info/jokes, and plot that we all should feel uncomfortable about.
Lewis Black, Robin Williams, and Christopher Walken what a cast! These are some of the funniest men alive. I would have liked the movie more if Lewis Black had gotten to do more jokes, but he was still funny doing his hand shacking and yelling routine. All three men were able to pull off some great political jokes, most came Robin Williams, since he was the lead.
The plot was about electronic voting machines screwing up and allowing the wrong candidate to win the election. I believe electronic voting machines are going to be a problem we are all going to face in the coming years. If you haven’t seen Hacking Democracy you should watch it. The movie explains how some voting machines can be exploited easily.
Man of the Year brought up great political issues while also being very funny.
